Party Planning Tips

When planning a party its best to start with a realistic goals and realise the balance between what you want and what your budget will provide. Most people underestimate how much work there is in organising a party and also just how stressful things may become.

The first two stages of planning a party should be

Make a guests list. It doesn't have to be a final version changes can be made later but you need to consider your guests and how many you need to cater for. The second thing to consider is the party venue and how appropriate it will be for your occasion and your invited guests. Deciding on these two factors will give you a rough idea as how much the event will cost as you will need to set a realistic budget.

If you are planning a family party such as a wedding you will notice from your list there will be young children to old people so your venue should serve to meet their requirements. Its probable you have invited smokers and they will need to pop outside for a break. If you have some less able party goers on your guest list it will prove difficult for them if your party is not on the ground floor and there is no lift. Its normally the case that young children can easily get bored at a long party, if you can find a venue with an safe outside space consider hiring a bouncy castle. This makes it far easier for the parents to relax and the kids can let of a bit of steam.

When choosing the right party venue you should also consider the type of occasion you are having and if the venue is appropriate. For example if you are having a Wedding reception then the local Scout hut probably will not generate the right atmosphere that a hotel or golf club may. On the other hand if its a kids party then a Scout hut or youth club will be perfect. When you decide on a party venue also consider the lighting. When it comes to the evening entertainment most people prefer the lights off for dancing. Its very important to be able to dim the lights and during the summer months draw some curtains to create a more intimate party atmosphere. Its best not to turn lights off completely but being able to turn the lights down suddenly creates an index point that says to everyone "its time to get on the dance floor."
